  1. Hi Joseph, this video is really helpful. Have you found a solution to the doubling up of 'materials' every time you import the model? My workflow is Microstation > export as Sketchup > import into Revit. I do all my material assignment in Revit. Every time I change something in the model and reload – a new blank material appears and disregards all of my previous materials. I would be really grateful, if you have found a workaround this issue! Thank you!

  2. Great workflow, have you tried to add different section cut patterns to SketchUp model inside Revit? Ps. I also noticed there is a problem with non rectilinear geometry from SketchUp (cylinders, etc.)

  3. Joseph thanks, another very informative and helpful video. As I followed along using SU 2018 to Revit 2020 in a site context file (Caddmapper origin) buildings and curbs show up fine but other site context (road, rail, landscape outlines) do not. I've tried everything I can think of re-linking numerous times, grouping, exploding, un-hiding, hidden geometry, consolidating layers. They just wont show up in the Revit file. Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance.

  4. Very good tutorial. DO you have any solution to import png or alpha channel texture in revit from sketchup for texture? I meen the texture of the trees in your example.

  5. June 9, 2020 . I enjoyed your video. I found it very informative. I've noticed that linking Sketchup 2020 did not work. I had to save the SketchUp model to 2019 for it to work. It was quite impressive when I saw it coming in to Revit. I say a big bravo for for this information that you share with all of us. in fact this subject could be repeated in more depth.

there is only one thing I would like to mention about your video it is the music. I find it overwhelmed the subject in many ways. one could lower the volume quite a bit or even not have it.
your voice is fine, it does not have to be filled with a background sound.

I hope to hear from you again on the subject of Sketchup to Revit 2020
    I graciously say thank you

  6. Have you had an error regarding "distorted imported items?" It happens when I have scaled or mirrored items in SketchUp and when imported into Revit they look "reset" as in back to the original component's form, dimensions, no edits etc.- so in short it looked like some components reset themselves to original when brought into revit. Thanks!.. great video.

  7. Thank you for this tutorial! By the way, what should I do when I import something that has been scaled and the mesh is displaced? This is for my final graduation work and I haven't benn able to find a solution.

  10. Great video thanks for sharing Joseph ! I was wondering if you did one in reverse. How to best prepare revit model to be imported into SKP? is there a way to keep all the revit materials on the geometry ? I usually receive Revit exports with one material on all faces or one material per layer. It would be great to know if you explored that topic.
    all the best!
